This property is located at the edge of a peaceful village featuring all essential facilities. It is on the beautiful River Yantra and just 15 minutes drive from the great River Danube. The village is only 20 km from the lovely town of Svishtov. Coyly encircled by the Danube and surrounding hills, this long-established port and crafts and university town features a couple of mosques, sunken C17 churches, and a museum in the former house of Aleko Konstantinov. As a satirist, Konstantinov is remembered for creating Bai Ganyu: an itinerant peddler of rose-oil and rugs who remain one of the best loved characters in Bulgarian fiction. Because it was the easiest place to cross the Danube, Svishtov witnessed the arrival of the Russian liberators in 1877. Culturally, today the town hosts a prestigious Festival of the Choral Music. Some 52 km to the east of the village is the biggest Bulgarian Danubian port city of Ruse which, Bernard Newman decided, ‘belongs to Europe and not to the Balkans’. Ruse’s promenade down the main boulevard is one of the liveliest in Bulgaria, and the pavement cafes compare favourably with Sofia’s. The Music Weeks in March attract some of the best classical ensembles, soloists and conductors in Europe; opera, a symphonic orchestra and a theatre can be enjoyed in other times. However, if they are not your scene, there’s always café-life or the sights. Before you reach Ruse, the gorges of the Rusenski Lom River hold three sets of medieval Bulgarian ruins: the Rock Monastery of Ivanovo, the Rock Monastery of Besarbovo, and the Medieval Fortress of Cherven. The property comprises a vast yard of 2 000 sq. m on which sits a two-storey house of 65 sq. m built-up area. On the ground floor there’s a living room, kitchen, and a bathroom. Three more rooms and an entrance hall are on the first floor. The toilet is outside and there’s a septic tank. The property is connected to electricity and water. A phone is not available but a land line can be easily connected. The house also features a cellar of 12 sq. m. It is approachable all year round for the road is asphalted.
