The property is set in the centre of a very beautiful and peaceful village in a region with so many attractions that travelers will need lots of days to see only part of them. The village is advantageously positioned 55 km from Veliko Tarnovo, the medieval capital of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom, which is still a thriving city with specific fascinating sights and a most romantic location for its houses are as if bound to the rocks by wild lilac and vines, forming picturesque reefs veined by steps and narrow streets. Some 66 km further to the north is the town of Ruse which, Bernard Newman decided, ‘belongs to Europe and not to the Balkans’. Ruse’s promenade down the main boulevard is one of the liveliest in Bulgaria, and the pavement cafes compare favourably with Sofia’s. The Music Weeks in March attract some of the best classical ensembles, soloists and conductors in Europe; opera, a symphonic orchestra and a theatre can be enjoyed in other times. However, if they are not your scene, there’s always café-life or the sights. Before you reach Ruse, the gorges of the Rusenski Lom River hold three sets of medieval Bulgarian ruins: the Rock Monastery of Ivanovo, the Rock Monastery of Besarbovo, and the Medieval Fortress of Cherven. In other words, this village has a great location and it can be the starting point for short or longer trips to the Balkan Mountains, the Danube River and further to Romania, or the seaside as the distance is about 250 km. This house boasts unique authentic architecture because it was built in 1870 when Bulgaria was still under Turkish domination, and is, somehow, in perfect harmony with the rich historical heritage of the surrounding region. It has two floors. Although it might look like a ramshackle house, it is really in a very good condition for its age and allows for restoration and renovation works.
