The town itself is well developed, with shops, pleasant restaurants, a school, and a kindergarten. Isperih is situated 40 km to the northeast of Razgrad in the middle of the Danube Plain. The town of Isperih emerged in 1545, inheriting a medieval settlement. It carries the name of the founder of the first Bulgarian state, the Protobulgarian Asparuh, whose monument stands out in the centre of the town. The once small settlement has gradually grown into a modern town with an agro-industrial complex, schools, kindergartens and healthcare establishments. It has a pleasant town centre with plenty of attractive cafes, and a lively Friday-morning market which attracts villagers from all over the region. The biggest site in the region of Isperih is the Tracian tomb of Sveshtari that lies just 7 km away from the town and is of immense interest for all the visitors. Another interesting town in the area is Targovishte - an important craft and educational settlement in the past and an administrative center nowadays. There are more than 30 buildings of authentic architecture in the old Renaissance quarter called 'Varosha'. At 8 km. from the town of Targovishte there is a curative mineral spring - a premise for the development of spa tourism. The bio diversity of the region has been preserved in the reserve of Patleina. There is situated also the Patleina monastery - a center of production of the famous Preslav ceramics. The dams of Ticha and Yastrebino offer excellent conditions for fishing.
